Arca, Sanborns to be cut from IPC, Vitro added Fecha Viernes, enero 17 @ 09:58:34 Tema México :: Mexico
| Bottling company Arca and retailer Grupo Sanborns will be removed from Mexico's IPC benchmark stock index as of Feb. 1, and glassmaker Vitro will be added, the Mexican Stock Exchange said on Thursday. Mexican securities authorities revise the companies that make up the IPC index every February, considering requirements including market capital and liquidity, with the new composition normally left unchanged for the following year.
Giant telecoms company Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) is the largest of the IPC's 36 current companies, at 18.11 percent of the index, while the smallest is struggling wireless telecom Grupo Iusacell, at 0.065 percent.
Additions and removals of stocks within market indices can affect the price of companies's shares, as index fund managers buy and sell them to adjust their portfolios to match the index they track.
February's changes to the IPC will leave it with only 35 stocks.
