Worldwide USB smart card developer contest, 2nd edition

Two categories of contestants (professionals and students) are invited to develop (proof of concept) innovative solutions, using the Java/Cyberflex e-gate smart cards, such as :

• On-line Business to Consumer applications / services
  
• Solutions and implementation schemes to enable on-line companies securing clients’ accesses to their gateways and services
  
• Citizen and everyday life applications

Possible topics include :

• Interfaces to Digital Identity Initiatives (Liberty Alliance …)
  
• E- Transactions (e-banking, e-broking, e-retail, loyalty, VPN, secure web access, CRM …)
  
• Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi)
  
• Digital Right Management (DRM)
  
• MODs (MasterCard Open Data Storage)
  
• Entertainment (music, video, games)
  
• Citizen applications
  
• Electronic signature
  
• E-learning

Six finalists will be selected by a Jury including key leaders in the IT and e-business world and will have the opportunity to present their project to the public on the Schlumberger booth during the CardTech SecurTech 2004 exhibition in Washington on April 26-29, 2004. Projects will be assessed according to the following criteria : innovation, marketing appeal, ease of implementation, user-friendliness, compactness, cost-effectiveness, ease of deployment on the market, security and business potential.
